caterina-miltenberger-photoOver the past 18 years, Caterina Miltenberger has forged a reputation as one of Dallas’ most well-known mixologists, captivating audiences with her refined knowledge of spirits and trend-setting cocktails. Cat’s zeal began at a very early age. An East Dallasite, she grew up in the restaurant business and hospitality is in her blood.

Caterina is Corporate Mixologist for Glazer’s Wholesale Distributors in Dallas, Texas. Glazer’s, currently operating in 11 states, is one of the nation’s largest distributors of wine, spirits, and malt beverage products. The third-generation family business was founded in Dallas in 1933.

Caterina’s passion for entertaining, and her innate ability in combining spirits, essences, foods, and flavors together comes from her first generation Sicilian-American heritage. She is affectionately known as “The Liquid Chef” to her close friends, co-workers, and clients. “When it comes to making a drink, I think ‘Chanel’ perfection….simple and elegant is my style.”

Cat has been perfecting her art as a “spirits alchemist” in several different venues. She has been expanding her complex knowledge of spirits and is always looking for palette trends in serving her clientele. She has been written up numerous times in D Magazine, InStyle Magazine, and Fort Worth Star Telegram for her cocktails using ingredients indigenous to Texas.

On September 10th, 2010, VOGUE ‘Fashions Night’ event for Neiman Marcus showcased her talents featuring beautiful Moroccan influenced cocktails based on the designer ‘Etro’ Milano. In 2009, Cat’s ‘Maximo Heat’ for Maximo Restaurant was voted D Magazine’s Best Margarita two years in a row. Cat has been written about in Modern Luxury magazine for Chef Stephan Pyle’s restaurant in Dallas and in a ‘Look Who’s Talking segment’ also in Modern Luxury Magazine.

Cat trained with Master Mixologist Jacques Bezuidenhout. She is considered a ‘Rising Star’ in ‘Texas Farm to Table’ mixology. She has created cocktails for local and national celebrities like Deion and Pilar Sanders. In August of 2010, noted in Quick Magazine: “Top Ten Cocktails you must try this summer” and November’s issue of Tasting Panel Magazine and featured mixologist for Tyku at Aspen Food & Wine 2010. Using The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley Strawberry Puree and balsamic vinegar, Cat created the signature cocktail for Napa Valley’s Far Niente Winery’s 125th anniversary (featuring Dolce Liquid Gold from Napa Valley).

Not only does Cat work on national, regional and key accounts, you can also find her cocktails at the local level in 4 star dining restaurants including: Al Biernat’s Restaurant in Dallas, Crescent Club (Rosewood Property), the Hyatt Regency River walk in San Antonio, and Neiman Marcus nationally. This past fall, Cat participated in the Asphalt Grilling at Texas Motor Speedway. She featured 3 signature cocktails with Tito’s Handmade Vodka using The Perfect Purée of Napa Valley’s Classic Sweet & Sour to complement her hand-crafted and infused jalapeno Tito’s Rita, her old-school cherry limeade, and her Italian Orange-ade with Aperol liqueur. Also, she was a judge for the USBG on behalf of DonQ for “Mix it Up” in Puerto Rico and she was featured in a video for DonQ Summer Mojitos.

Cat’s latest endeavor was at the 2011 Cheer’s Conference in New Orleans, where she and Philip Raimando showcased a twist on Tony Abou-Ganim’s Cable Car using Cruzan 9 spiced rum, O3 Liqueur (Beam Global) and The Perfect Purée’s Classic Sweet & Sour. She is currently DonQ’s mixologist for Texas and works with one of Beam Global’s Mixologist, Phillip Raimando. Cat will be shooting training videos on behalf of Glazers University with Beam Global’s Bobby Gleason in the upcoming months. She will be a celebrity judge for Imperial Brands 4 Oranges vodka at South Beach Food & Wine 2011 along with Francesco La Franconi.
