Tomboy Tavern at Colorado’s Telluride Ski Resort is named after the Tomboy Mine, one of Telluride’s legendary nineteenth century gold mines. Tomboy’s modern namesake caters to prospectors of a different sort, eager to strike gold in the form of handcrafted cocktails after a long day on the mountain.

Telluride’s lead bartender and beverage specialist, Meredith Redmond, mines history and her own instincts for irresistible creations like Gold Miner’s Daughter, a velvety blend of Courvoisier VS and The Perfect Purée Apricot Puree.

After starting her career in Portland, Oregon, Meredith has spent most of her 10 years in the beverage industry at Telluride, creating cocktail menus for resort venues including the flagship Tomboy Tavern, where she is assistant general manager and bar manager.

Meredith discovered The Perfect Purée at camp. Not your average tennis and archery camp but Camp Runamok, a week-long bar camp for die-hard beverage professionals in the heart of Kentucky Bourbon Country. Created by Lush Life Productions, Camp Runamok immerses bar pros in whiskey culture and crazy adventures, while also giving their careers a tremendous educational boost.

“When I returned from this bourbon-soaked week, I inquired with a rep about The Perfect Purée and got a sample pack,” Meredith says. “I played with every flavor and have been using various ones ever since on all of my menus. They are a fantastic addition to every cocktail list I create.”

At present, Meredith’s favorites are The Perfect Purée Passion Fruit Concentrate, Prickly Pear Puree and Carmelized Pineapple Concentrate, made all the more sublime, she’s discovered, with Ancho Reyes chili liqueur and dark rum. That’s a combination to die for, she says.
