Mimi Burnham / Virtual Bartending at Avital Food Tours, New York City, New York

Mimi Burnham is an award-winning craft cocktail bartender who enjoys creating seasonally-fresh classic cocktails for discerning drinkers in New York City. Energetic, informed and unfailingly friendly behind the bar, Mimi mixes drinks at the newly-opened Monk McGinn’s Upstairs Lounge in Tribeca.

Mimi is an active member of the New York City Chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) and continually hones her craft by regularly attending master classes for various spirits and wines. Mimi is master-certified in bourbon, Champagne, sherry, single malt Scotch, whiskey (Irish and U.S.), rum, amaro, pisco, brandy, tequila, vodka and gin.

Mimi’s signature is her unwavering focus on crafting the finest classic cocktails with a modern twist and creating a friendly atmosphere with excellent service wherever she works. Throughout her career behind the bar, she has worked multiple venues — from her start at the North Shore Yacht Club to fine dining establishments in northeast Queens and nightclubs in Manhattan.

A long-time loyal fan of The Perfect Purée, Mimi values it for its consistency.

“I’ve been using various purées and blends for many years and I can always count on their freshness and quality,” she says.

Prior to joining the opening staff at Monk McGinn’s, Mimi helped open the southern-inspired Porchlight Bar in West Chelsea, Danny Meyer’s highly-acclaimed standalone cocktail bar.

In 2014, Mimi won a coveted spot in Wild Turkey’s national contest, Behind the Barrel, joining 30 other bartenders in an immersive experience learning about the craft of making bourbon from Wild Turkey legends Jimmy and Eddie Russell.

Mimi represented the New York USBG at Portland Cocktail Week in Oregon in 2013 as part of an educational seminar about trending markets in the spirits industry. She was one of 42 bartenders who received a full scholarship from Tanqueray Gin, which sponsored her popular original creation “Holly Go Lightly” (a chai and black assam tea leaf-infused gin with sweet vermouth and citrus).
